I wasn't really nervous for the surgery or recovery as I was told I would be under anesthesia and recovery time is quick and relatively painless. I was most nervous for the IV... and with good reason! But I think after these past few weeks I am getting used to being poked with needles, unfortunately.
So we arrive at 9:30am for my 11:30 appointment and the waiting room is FULL of people, for some reason I was not expecting that. I brought plenty of reading material and my iTouch to entertain me while I waited, so I was ready. About an hour later they call me back and ask me a million questions of which I could luckily say No to most of them. They take another vial of blood, oh my precious blood I am giving you away so freely these days! Then I get to don the lovely hospital robe that is supposed to tie in the back...my tie was broken, I had no tie, I was going to be flashing a lot of people if I needed to get out of bed! I've been in the room for what feels like ever waiting for more people to come by and ask me questions and then take me to the next waiting room to get my IV.
A nurse comes and asks lots of questions which I can say No to again except for one, have you or anyone in your family had any reaction to being under anesthesia before? ummm ya my dad. Ok what happened with him? ummm I don't know, but he is here you can ask him. So they send for my parents to come say aloha to me and grab my bag of jewelry and ask dad what happened last time he was under anesthesia. His response. I died. cardiac arrest. 4 minutes later they brought me back. Well I knew it wasn't good whatever happened to dad with anesthesia but for some reason I didn't think that. This causes nurse lady and anesthesiologist to have many more questions for dad, so he gets to accompany me to the IV waiting room. Long story short they think since this reaction happened to my dad and the same thing happened to my uncle that it might be a genetic disposition to anesthesia and even though I have been under anesthesia before for my wisdom teeth, they are being cautious and try a less dangerous anesthesia on me and need to watch me for 4, yes four hours after my 30 minute surgery is over. And after that news I get my glorious IV. I didn't look but it didn't matter I could feel it going in my hand and down aways, not my favorite feeling. I tried not to move my left hand the whole time after the IV was in because it felt funny and kind of hurt when it moved. Then I got antibiotics pumped through it before surgery and oh they burn going through the IV. ugh this IV thing is no fun!
Then finally I get wheeled down lots of hallways to my operating room where I shimmy over to the table and get oxygen mask, woohoo. There is Faith Hill playing in the back ground, the anesthesiologist says I will feel a burning through the IV (again!) and then a cold feeling, floating and then sleep. That was fast, I feel it working, I say goodnight!
I wake up and forget where I am, so this is why they always tell you who they are and where you are on tv when you are in the hospital, you really can forget. Then they are putting a thingy around my ears and in my nose, and asking me questions. I say wow that was fast and I start crying but tell them I'm not sure why I am crying, I really don't know why, but it was quick. Then I realize I have a blood pressure armband on and don't know when that got there, oh and someone put some kind of underwear on me...um thanks! Then I get a warm blanket for some pain I am feeling then I wait and wait and wait for hours. The only bad thing about waiting was my parents couldn't come back and that the people around me in the recovery room were doing scary gross things that I couldn't see but I could hear. The nurse goes and gets my purse a few hours into my four hour stay and my parents stuck a thing of food in there, amen! I hadn't been able to eat or drink since midnight the night before. Apples never tasted so good! I had my iTouch and what a time to forget my ear plugs, so I just watched the Nightmare before Christmas with the sound of people throwing up and then not breathing surrounding me. This is when my nurse tells me, see you are such a good patient breathing and all! My dad gets to come in at 4 and we have to wait until 5 to leave, so we sit and talk for an hour and get all my post surgery instructions. I am on "pelvic rest" for 2 weeks, sorry Dom ;) And then finally I get to go home!
Good news all around really is that everything went well and I have had no pain really since right after I woke up. I was just relieved to get it over with as soon as I could! The only thing I get to still experience are my wacko hormones trying to go back to normal and realize I am not pregnant anymore, so if I spontaneously burst out in tears, this is why. It has happened once already when Dom wanted me to walk over to the couch and I didn't want to get up and then he tells me maybe we can go to Disneyland for our Anniversary... cue Krystal crying. Now he just has to take me since he already made me cry over it haha.

So thanks to everyone for everything you have done or said or prayed for us! It's over for now, and we can go back to normal, cheers to that.
Who said no to Disneyland in the poll? ugh!
