day 23

day 23- a picture of your favorite book

yikes this is a hard one! I like to read and have a lot of favorites, so how do I pick just one?! Well how about this, my top five of all time are
1. The Princess Bride by William Goldman
2. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
3. The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffeneger
4. The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery
5. My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Piccoult

1, 3 and 5 had movies made after the books and I must say, as usual, the book is always better! Even The Princess Bride which is my favorite movie, and why I read the book, was missing something after reading the book and seeing the back stories for all the characters just made me like them that much more...inconcievable! The Time Traveler's Wife seemed difficult to put into a movie but they did a pretty good job, still it has nothing on the feeling I got from the book. My Sister's Keeper was tear worthy in either form, but the movie completely changed the ending of the book...not allowed in my world, either way it still made me cry.
2 and 4 are both books with meaning and I love their individual messages. The Little Prince is a short read and technically a child's book but any adult will be able to appreciate what the book is really about...plus it has pictures ;) I have the version of the Alchemist with an introduction from the author- that intro has to be one of the best parts of the book, it talks about one's personal calling and some reasons we can not find the courage to follow our dreams, should you ever decide to read the Alchemist (which I highly recommend when you need an inspirational read) please get the version with the introduction, it's only 4 extra pages and so worth it!

Well I got off on a tangent there but I really do love all these books. When I read a good book I always write down my favorite lines from it. Each of these books has a ton of quotes I would love to share with you but I have to pick a favorite and I think I will go with...

"Is this a kissing book?"
Hard to pick a different one since this story has everything I love in it:

There are so many great things about this story and I love the humour in it as well as the love story. I have to share some of my favorite quotes from this book because they are just too good not to! Be cautioned I have a lot, read on if you dare.

"I love you so much more now then twenty minutes ago that there cannot be comparison. I love you so much more now then when you opened your hovel door there cannot be comparison. There is no room in my body for anything but you. My arms love you, my ears adore you, my knees shake with blind affection. My mind begs you to ask it something so it can obey. Do you want me to follow you for the rest of your days? I will do that."

"It was all a part of growing up. You got these little quick passions, you blinked, and they were gone. You forgave faults, found perfection, fell madly; then the next day the sun came up and it was over."

"I have lived my life with only the prayer that some sudden dawn you might glance in my direction. I have not known a moment in years when the sight of you did not send my heart careening against my rib cage. I have not known a night when your visage did not accompany me to sleep. There has not been a morning when you did not flutter behind my waking eyelids."

"Marriage involves love and that is not a pastime at which I excel. I tried once, and it went badly, and I am sworn never to love another."

"Excuses are the refuge of cowards."

"Love is many things, none of them logical."

"Life is pain, anybody that says different is selling something."

"I don't guess. I think. I ponder. I deduce. Then I decide. But I never guess."

"Buttercup was searching somewhere for a sufficiency of courage. Evidently, she found it in his eyes."

"For a time she looked around and around. 'We lived then?' she managed finally. 'We're a hardy breed.' 'What a wonderful surprise.'"

"I've heard before of creatures like this, the heartless ones, and as they grow bigger they get more and more beautiful and behind them is nothing but broken bodies and shattered souls and these without hearts are anguish bringers."

"Beloved: I think I love you now and I pray you only give me the chance to spend my life in constant proving."

"But just as he knew that the sun was obliged to rise each morning in the east, no matter how much a western arisal might have pleased it, so he knew that Buttercup was obliged to spend her love one him. Gold was inviting, and so was royalty, but they could not match the fever in his heart, and sooner or later she would have to catch it. She had less choice then the sun."

"My mind is like fine wine; it travels badly."

"True love is the best thing in the world, except for cough drops."

"Buttercup was paying little attention to the goings on. Westley must be racing down the corridors now. He always ran so beautifully. Even back on the farm, long before she knew her heart, it was good to watch him run."

"She pulled it from the wall, put it to her heart. 'There are always too few perfect breasts in this world; leave yours alone' she heard. And there was Westley on the bed. It was 5:48 and she knew that she would never die."
