it said Yes!

There have only been a few times in my life where I have been truly surprised. I love surprises, I do, but I wish I wouldn't figure them out before hand (and that is not always on purpose!) but somehow I am rarely caught of guard. I can think of a few times I have been pleasantly and genuinely surprised:
--Drea coming in to visit for my 16th birthday (the first in Phoenix).
--Dominic surprising me all day with roses everywhere I went getting ready for prom on my 17th birthday.
--My parents surprising me with a yellow escape at my 18th birthday party.
( I apparently had some memorable birthdays in high school!)

And now I can add another day to that list. It went a little something like this...

(a bit of background first- we have been trying to get pregnant since August 08, I was very optimistic through every month even though it just wasn't happening. March roles around and for whatever reason I just know this is not our month, I am not feeling pregnant and I feel pretty confident it's not going to be working this month either and I am not feeling happy about that! So it is safe to say this was my most pessimistic moment thus far...)

It is Saturday the day of my birthday party. I am a week late, but that sometimes happens to me, plus I have been stressed out this month since I just know it's not our month so I am sure I should just wait it out, we aren't pregnant this time either. Dominic is insistent that we should just try to take a pregnancy test. I am feeling like I don't want to see another negative, but ok we will get one and I will have the other test for next month.
So I take the test, it is a digital one, we have to wait for 3 minutes to see the results. Dominic wants to sit there and stare at it for 3 minutes, I want to leave and then come back in 3 minutes. Luckily my phone rings from the kitchen and I go to answer it telling Dom he can NOT stay here and watch it without me. We leave for my phone call and walk back to our bathroom counter. And it says YES +...

visually this is what happens next. Krystal and Dominic take a few steps back- Dom on one side of the bathroom, Krystal on the other. Hands are over mouths, eyes are wide. the only thing you can hear is a gasp and "oh my God". turn and look at each other "oh my God"..."oh my God"... "oh oh oh"... "OH MY GOD". look at pregnancy test to confirm. yes it still says yes. "OH MY GOD"... YAY! then the excitement sets in and there is a lot of jumping up and down and hugging, checking to make sure the test says Yes and telling LeeLu who is jumping on us that it's ok.

And now we can log this day in as one of those things I did not see coming. A genuinely wonderful surprise. We feel truly blessed. And can't wait to share the news...or can we?

  3. No joke, I was more than impressed with myself that I contained the secret for two weeks. I don't think I've ever done that before in my life. My loud mouth usually blurts it out...it was a loooooong two weeks :-)

  4. Thanks Shanny! Just got your save the date card in the mail and hopefully we will be able to make it to your wedding! we just might be reserving for 3 ;)

That was the longest 2 weeks ever to keep it all a secret! Now that everyone knows I can have all this crazy pregnancy reading material scattered around our house and can be seen browsing the baby aisle at target haha what a relief!
