bye bye boobie
The end has arrived. Breastfeeding is done with, gone, vamos...and I couldn't be happier. 13 months is a long time! I had in my mind that I had to make it atleast to 6 months and if I made it a year then great. Well there were many a time that I wanted to stop, remember that whole not eating dairy for months thing, oh and then the teeth came in, ouch, then there was the constant distractions and of course all along the trying to plan around when he needed to eat and where I was going to be. Yes it wasn't easy but I made it. And sorry to say that I am not sad to see it go. And luckily neither was Logan. He could've cared less actually. The transition to cows milk was way easier then I had prepared myself for. I thought he might freak out a bit, but he was ready too I guess. By his birthday he was breastfeeding at morning and at night and then having cows milk in the middle of the day. Had he not broken his leg I would've started the transition to only cows milk earlier, but I didn't want to make him more unhappy then he already was with his loss of mobility, so we waited. The first feeding to be replaced was the night time one, I had Dom give him the sippy cup of cows milk and he ended up screaming about it for a little bit then would drink a few sips and go to sleep, not quite the long routine he put me up to every night. Then a week later we stopped the last breastfeeding session in the morning, I was a little worried about replacing this one with cows milk because he used to wake up at 5:30am breastfeed then go back to sleep until 7:30am. I was afraid that for some reason with the cows milk at 5:30 he wouldn't be comforted into going back to sleep and our day would start bright and early, yikes! Luckily he started waking up at 6:30am, drank his cows milk and started our day then, much better then 5:30! So we are officially on only cows milk now and I can officially drink a beer whenever I want without worrying about when I need to feed the baby and I don't have to worry about being gone around his bedtime and of course, no more pumping, yay! But so long boobies, back to your "normal" selves...atleast I hope!
