Logan had his 12 month check up Monday. A little late since I wanted to wait to torture him with shots until AFTER the cast was off. Good call on my part I say. So Logan is 29 5/8" long which is in the 37 percentile, weighs 21 lbs 7oz which is the 25th percentile and his head circumference is 48 1/2 which puts him in the 93rd percentile haha surprise suprise ;) So our "little man" is actually that now, little! I was wondering where he would fall because people lately have been guessing he is younger then he actually is so I am not surprised that he is not average in those categories. It's always been his big noggin that made him look older anyways ;)
We talked about weaning from breastfeeding which I have been anxiously awaiting! He drinks cows milk during the day now since his birthday but I was waiting to ask and get advice on which breastfeeding session to go first, the one at 5:30am where he eats and goes back to sleep for 2 hours or the right before bed at 7pm one. The doctor said it's usually the late night one that is harder but since he does go back to sleep usually the morning will probably be harder for us. So after we get back from Albuquerque we are saying goodbye to the feeding right before bed at night and he will get cows milk and I don't think that will be a problem, I guess once we see how that goes we will then be taking away the morning one and praying he will still take a 2 hour nap and wake up for the day at 7:30am :) fingers crossed.
I asked about the 3 foods we were supposed to stay away from until he was a year old (nuts, shellfish and honey) and the verdict is, honey is ok now, shellfish not yet and nuts since we have a family member with a nut allergy (hello brother!) that we should continue to avoid peanut butter and nuts until he is 2 years old.
Logan got his hepatitis A, MMR, chickenpox and flu shots. Once they are a year old they do them in their arms not their legs (so I guess I didn't have to wait for the cast to come off after all, but still I'm glad I did) and he was of course, not a fan. He ended up with a fever late that night and so we gave him so motrin and tried to let him sleep with us in our bed since he didn't want to be away from us...sounded easier then it actually was. Sleeping with an infant they just lay still on you and sleep peacefully, sleeping with a toddler (is that what Logan is now?!) they roll all around and kick and jerk allllll the time. So that was a short lived experiment, I just ended up sleeping with Logan on a pallet of blankets on his bedroom floor with him. He had a fever and was acting clingy and grumpy all day Tuesday, poor baby, so he was kept doped up on motrin and he ended up sleeping much better at night and woke up back to his old self this morning. It's crazy what a difference in his demeanor it makes when he is cast free and fever free, he is just a happy little guy today!
Wednesdays are our busy fun baby days. We have little movers and shakers baby gym class in the morning and now that his cast is off he is having more fun actually getting to do more things there. Today he crawled up two stairs to a pie shaped mat and slid down. There is a little slide there too and he goes crazy over it! Once things settle down we will have to put together his treehouse present from mimi and papa and he can play on that slide in our backyard, he will love it. We also go to the library for a baby story time on Wednesdays to listen to a story and sing songs. Logan seems to enjoy it and he is getting a little braver each time with how far he will go from me, but he still tends to stay pretty close. We are excited to go to Albuquerque tomorrow night and see Drea and the balloon fiesta this weekend. Logan should have fun (as long as he isn't scared of the balloons!), we are excited to see what he thinks of the hot air balloons :) Watch out, the next post about our trip will probably have far too many pictures ;)
