Cast on

After a visit to the pediatric orthopedic surgeon and another round of x-rays (holding a baby still for those is nearly impossible! but he did better on round 2) and an exam by the doctor Mr. Logan was determined to have a toddler fracture in his left tibia.  The x-rays didn't show anything but the doctor said sometimes they are so small they don't see anything until they x-ray it later and see the bone regrowth healing.  The doctor did an exam in which there was a lot of pressing on different parts of both his legs and mainly watching his face for a reaction.  Well Logan reacted to the same spot on his leg where we thought the problem was and since he wouldn't put any weight on it the decision was 'time for a cast!' and he has to wear it for 3 weeks.  Putting on the cast was easier then I thought it would be, he just sat still on my lap and was just watching what they were doing.  Logan's cast is waterproof to an extent, so he can still take a bath, which is great!  We went from a smelly helmet to a smelly cast, the poor little stink.
Once we got home from the doctor and I sat him down on the floor and he realized 'hey my leg is stuck like this!' then he was not sure what to do or how to get around for about 5 minutes, then he started scooting like he had been and just had to change the method a little bit since he couldn't bend his left leg then he was golden.  Although Logan is NOT a fan of immobility and lack of freedom.  He much prefers being able to get up, cruise around and get where he wants when he wants.  He is handling the cast ok, some days are better then others, but I think it is finally getting easier for him.  He has figured out how to roll around and sit up with it so that has helped.  Everyone laughs when they see him scoot around with his cast, I guess we don't think it's as unique since that's the same way he has always scooted since he never crawled, I guess that skill came in handy.  So 2 more weeks with his cast and then he is done, hurray!  I know he will be anxious to get moving again even if it takes him longer to relearn everything he just figured out with walking.  Hopefully this will be our last visit to the urgent care for awhile!  But boys will be boys right...
Good job at the doctors office!
