Yesterday we went to the pediatrician for his 9 month check up. Not so little man is 28 inches long (50th percentile), 19 lbs 11 oz (25-50th percentile), and that giant old noggin is rounding out and putting him well into the 75th percentile (or more) with 47cm head circumference. She said he is doing well and that this is around the time that the weight will plateau for awhile as he becomes more mobile and starts to eat more solid food and less breast milk. I have a feeling he will still be a chunk though ;) and that's how we like him. He got his toe poked to check for anemia and she will call with the results, otherwise it was just me asking a load of questions since he had such a bad week last week. The main problem we have is nap time. He's tired, he will fall asleep in your arms but not let you put him down in the crib or he won't let you hold him or put him in the crib, either way he fights it to the death. She said let him cry, it's a behavioral thing now and he is just strong willed. He knows he is tired and he will eventually figure it out and go to sleep on his own. So she said to give him an hour in his crib during nap time and if he cries that whole hour then fine, he gets up and misses that nap time. So yesterday we tried that for the afternoon nap and he cried 45 mins and fell asleep. We needed to do it for bedtime too last night and he only cried 25 mins. Although he woke up at 2:50am last night and after an attempt to put him back to sleep I just let him cry it out and that time took an hour of crying, the kid's got lungs. Today's nap time started in the car on the way home he fell asleep maybe 5 mins, I transferred him to the crib and once I set him down he started crying, I turned on all his go to sleep do-dads and he has been in there crying 50 minutes now. He might just miss this morning nap, which should make the rest of the day interesting...atleast until the afternoon nap. But I have a feeling once I feed him he will pass out. Not ideal for trying to get him to go to sleep on his own but oh well. This time of crying it out is working better then the last attempt. But I think this time we are more determined to stick with it because we have tried everything else! We talked about crawling too...or the lack there of. He will only cry and scoot backwards on his belly and he can turn circles and go backwards on his bottom but other then that, no movements that resemble crawling. Standing and cruising on the other hand is his specialty. I asked her if it was ok if he just didn't crawl and she said maybe 30% of kids never do and just go straight to walking. We think Logan will definitely be one of those, he loves to "walk". Another problem we were having is him getting distracted while breastfeeding. She said this is normal at this age and to just try to do it in a quiet room. Even then he's like hey what's that over there and then just decides he is done. Frustrating but easier now that he can eat baby food and solids so that he is atleast getting something! And surprise surprise the kid doesn't want his pacifier anymore. This is good news really, much easier then us having to take it away from him when he is not ready but I wish he would've waited one more week so that he could use it on the plane ride to help with the sucking and ear popping. We will still give it a try though!
Today was our appointment at Hanger to take Logan's head measurements. In the last 3 weeks Logan's percentage of difference between the cranial width and length went from 89% to 88% (we want 80-85%). And Logan went from 7mm to 5mm difference between the right and left cranial vaults (we want 3mm). So he is right on track and we can definitely notice the differences when his helmet is off. Even putting it on is harder now because it fits tighter since his head is growing into the voids in the helmet like they are supposed to. Nicely shaped noggin coming right up! We go back in another 3 weeks for the next set of measurements.
Here's a picture of the melon this morning:

Happy little monster!

Well I do have more to write but that might have to wait until the next nap/cry time because my hour of crying man is up and he is still awake so time to go get the sleepy bugger.
