feathering the nest

It's official, the organization and decoration of the nursery has begun. Hurray! although the organizational part is a bit overwhelming since we seem to be running out of storage space around the house, the decorating part is a lot more fun!

This is what all happens when our creative powers combine:

For our anniversary we went to a place in the mall where you paint your own pottery and we made Logan a cross, it turned out cute, although we had to change our plan of how to decorate it half way through because stencils + paint does not always equal perfect letters haha. So we ended up with this and we are satisfied ;)

The big project was painting the tree in the nursery. We knew we wanted it above the crib and we looked online to find some tree inspiration. Turns out A LOT of people paint trees in the nursery. After a debate over what colors we would use we bought the paint samples and came home to see what would come out of it. First Dom chalked the outline of what we liked on the wall and once we decided we liked it he started to outline all the branches with the paint.

Since Dominic is the better artist (let's hope Logan gets that gene from him too!) and he actually enjoys painting, that left me in charge of taping off the heart with D+K inside it to "carve into our tree". Do not leave me alone with tape or I will find a way to keep myself occupied while "watching paint dry" so here is my view of my creative outlet

Oh I also got to draw leaves for Dom to choose from and then we cut them out of a sponge to use to stamp on our tree once the trunk was done. We stamped leaves in red, orange and green randomly around the branches and after a few more touch up coats, we have our most awesome finished product. We are quite excited about it! Enjoy!

See I told you it was cute! Good job Dominic, it looks great, *high five*
This makes me so excited to start on my other projects, woohoo! Hopefully my painting skills will be up to par with Dom's haha.

And in case you needed a cuteness overload, here is kitty making friends with baby...or just claiming a spot in "her" chair that I took from her ;)

now little brother I want you to understand that this lap must be shared at all times, no matter how big the belly is!

I'm glad we had that talk, now let's snuggle...
